Opening at The Library

This friday, August 1st, the first day of the month in which all your summer stirrings will be realized, I will have a new landscape drawing up in The Library, a fairly new space run by the wonderful Meagan Donegan (her drawing is on the poster above). The gallery is just behind the restaurant that is my favorite restaurant (and I'm not normally the kind of person with answers for "favorites"), Pizzaiolo in Oakland. The new drawing was done up in the oakland hills and it's called, "no one thing is bigger than the combination of all the things". And that's true. I made it at this spot near where frank and I had our Crater show last august up in the oakland hills, so it felt fully circled, and worth returning to. I'm also going to be putting up my big panoramic drawing from Enter the Center in Pizzaiolo, which I'm really excited about (it is my favorite restaurant).

If you're around, come on by, I'll be taking off next week for nearly a month of east coast visiting and Sierra mountain artist residencing, so it'd be nice to see friends faces.

here's the deal:

THE LIBRARY IS HAVING AN ART OPENING FRIDAY AUGUST 1 FROM 5 TO 7PM

No way, you draw on record sleeves? That's my favorite thing to do!

they're beautiful things those sleeves, glad to hear of another fond friend.

I like them to begin with, and I like that they act like building blocks when I grow my drawings...I can make big pictures out in places and not be totally awkward carrying a painfully big board (I did that once, in CT, in the snow, and I spent most of the time gripping the board from blowing away in the winter wind...it acted like a sail and eventually sent my drawing flying. I was laughing and crying at the same time).
