Family fort team

the two days before the fort show, my mom and brother came from the east to be a part of the project. my mom and I spent hours tying cut sticks together with twine to make the fort floor, and my brother raked a circle out of leaves and generally straightened up the woods. who else but your family can you ask to do such things? and thanks to daren, we have this video of our work sesh (if you skip to 1:30ish, you get the full floor building progression, which is pretty fun to watch). dreamy days.

Memorial Fort opening show!

after months of daily attending,
Memorial Fort, which has been growing in a secret grove in the hills of Richmond Ca, is approaching its ribbon cutting moment....

On, Sunday, September 20th, 2009,
Ribbons and Hot & Cold invites you to please join us at this first fort gathering for an afternoon and early evening of picnicing, exploring, listening, and building (final fort touches)

we will be joined by:

LUCKY DRAGONS
the voiceghost of Daniela Gesundheit from Snowblink
a cello performance by Gael Alcock

we will be celebrating many things including: doing nice things with your friends, doing things you loved to do as a kid as an adult, and of course the grandest finale of Hot & Cold magazine who have been co-conspirators in the building and presenting of this place.

a set of directions has been drawn up to help you navigate your way onto the secret path which has been etched into the grassy hills outward and downward to the forest nook where this forest fort lives. you'll need a copy to get there, and copies have been made to get into the hands of everyone who would like to come.

A set of directions can be acquired in these ways:

-first and foremost, if you get a copy of Hot & Cold issue 1, the directions are included. this will be released at an opening on September 11th at Baer Ridgway. best option for sure duh.

-I'm having an opening at Hatch gallery in oakland this friday, September 4th, you can pick one up there if you ask me.

-I'll be helping build some swings and djing up at the Invisible Ocean festival in Mendocino this weekend, and I'll bring some copies, so ask me about if you see me.

-or, if you can't make to either opening or festival, email me, and we'll make it happen: ribbonspublications@gmail.com.

[time lapse video by daren, who, beyond capturing this and other beautiful images of the fort time, added a wonderful amount of energy to the fort building.]
