I've been taking a little hiatus from my collection...I like to bring home
specimens from
places for further inspection and drawing discovery, but lately I haven't been so hungry for it. I think it's important to not always do the things you 'do' just cause you tend to do them. avoid the staleness. That said, I got a bit reinvigorated today when I found a bird fully intact, except that it's head was a eaten away by ants and left as a skull. amazing. I'm not really sure what that says about me. ah well.
this is the second whole bird to enter my life and live in my collection of treasures. the first was this hummingbird. amazing. I can't actually claim the feeling of finding that one...my coworker from the berkeley art museum at the time called me up on a weekend to tell me he found it and that he'd save it and bring it into work for me. again, not sure what that says about me. I'm the guy you give cool dead stuff too?

That hummingbird is perfect! I also love to investigate dead things.
when else can you study and stare into the eyes of hummingbird?
