Devin's most recent cavephoto sharing reminded me of photos that he passed along months ago and of a gap in ribbons happening history that I've been meaning to mend.... Last July I planned a show for White Rainbow, White Fang, and Rob Walmart in an uncharted outskirt of san francisco, all the way east by the bay in an abandoned tract of the Port of SF. It felt like the set of Aerosmith's "living on the edge" video, it smelled like dead seagulls, and the light turned new colors, perhaps due to the presence of nearby factories painting the air with magic cement-making smoke.
The show occured back to back with the Michael Hurley show seen below, just after the angel island outing, just before a trip to the east coast, so perhaps that's how it got lost in the cracks. and that there's been a crack where these photos having been living does no justice to the fondness I have for what the White White Walmart crew brought to the scene. but really, I'm happy to add to a growing series of Backlogs, because it's fun to go back in time, and I feel like it's a comic book kind of thing to do....check the back issues! (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6)
in this little exposé, I get to share the show in "3D"... the photos I (David) took, the photos that Devin took, and the photos that Daren took (for those unfamiliar with Daren, you can see more of his striking pictures at lazylazerpointer, there'll all real good, and perfectly represent his superbly mellow meanderings and musings....you can see him taking a picture and standing on rocks in his down coat below).
!activate total triangulation!
